Neil Martin returned as Ulster delegate

Neil Martin ,Finn Valley has been returned as the Ulster delegate on the Board of Athletics Ireland . Neil is currently the chair of the Ulster council and in adition to his numerous duties at administrative level he manages the Irish junior under 20 squad . From Glenfin and a former employee with the HSE at St Conals he has been involved in the sport since his teens a champion athlete County Senior title holder and numerous awards at Ulster and Irish level now coaching in his club was a member of the first Valley team to win the provincial cross country senior team title and on one particularly memorable occassion won the Ulster War memorial beating Frank Brady ,Laragh ,who a few weeks previous had won the national intermediate indeedhe ran the event in his bare feet the event being held in the Cross, Killygordon on a tough course that included ditches and ploughed fields . He has acted in practically every capacity at the helm of Finn Valley and brings a great deal of experience to the position . In addition Kieran Carlin has been elected on to the coaching committee .

Elsewhere a womens group of Mary Hippsley,Gloria Devenney and Mary Connollly travelled to a 5k in Derry last week finishing 3rd team . This weekend its the North West 10k with a 2pm start and we wish Grace Boyle and her committee the best in reaching the magical 2000 mark in terms of starters .
