Strong performance from McGloin at Stormont
Teresa Mc Gloin brought her Valley team to Belfast on Saturday for the Ulster cross country champs . She continues to show positive attitude and went head to head with the battle up front just giving way in the final push to Abbey athlete Daniels with an North Belfast lead athlete Breid Connolly 3rd leading that team to victory with Valleys team of Mc Gloin , Catriona Devine, Kay byrne and Cliodhna Dunne 3rd team . THe limited involvement by Donegal athletes was heralded by Stranorlar native Gary murray who competes for the Belfast club St Malachys winning and leading Malachys to their first ever Ulster senior team victory .
Meanwhile in Kelvin Hall John Kelly won the junior boys shot with a 13-90 m effort and now has 2 weeks to prepare for his biggest challenge ever the AAA champ in Birmingham . Blaithnaid Patton had a disapointing day in the high while Caoimhe Mc Menamin showed improvement in the shot/long jump.
Across in Essex Gerry O Doherty led his club Billercay Striders to the County league overall title . This is a great boost for the Glencar ,Letterkenny man who built this success on team ethos similar to what he grew up with at Finn Valley. Also in England John Creane returned to competition in a 10k event great to see him back .
This weekend the venue is Lough Key Forest Park for under age cross country and relays plus the national masters . A large club involvement is anticipated
