Teresa McGloin Smashes Buncrana 5k Record

At the Buncrana 5km on Wednesday night Teresa Mc Gloin smashed the course record previously held by Clodagh Mc Cool, breaking the record by 33sec Teresa crossed the line with a time of 17.13. Bredge Connolly North Belfast Harriers finishing in 2nd with a time of 17.44 and Helena Crossan 3rd. The men's race being won by Pauric Mc Kinney in a time of 15.16 whilst Greg Roberts and Brother Colin Roberts getting 2nd & 3rd. Tommy Farrell having a good run to finish 4th overall and winning the masters O-40 in a time of 16.15. Gloria Donaghey running a time of 22.31, Gloria getting a win in a new category to her O-50. Well done to all.
Teresa Mc Gloin will now travel to Slovakia where she will compete for Tir Chonaill AC in the European Clubs. Good luck to all in Tir Chonaill who travels to Slovakia.
Saturday see the climax to the schools Track & Field in Tullamore; a number of Valley athletes will travel with hope of gaining medals. Pauric Mc Laughlin and Mark Bonar in the Steeple Chase, Rebecca Ward in the Long Jump. Ian Ward will also compete in the Irish Milers Club mile.
