National Silver for Finn Valley 3 x 800m Team

On the day that Usain Bolt broke another world record in the 150m with a time of 14.35, the young lads of Finn Valley AC brought home silver medals from the National Track Relays in the 3 x 800m relays, coincidentally the last 3 x 800m team that brought home medals included the man who is now, Usain Bolts Manager Ricky Simms. The team that gained medals today were Ryan Mc Daid, Daren Stewart & Shane Bonar, Shane who was a late call up to the team to replace Ian Ward also raced earlier in the week in the Ulster Schools running in the 800m Shane ran 2.05. Also running in the schools were Pauric Mc Laughlin in the Steeple Chase finishing 2nd to Noel Collins Omagh, whilst Mark Bonar also finished 2nd in 1500m SC. Both these lads will now look forward to the Irish schools in Tullamore at the end of the month.
Three athletes travelled to Culdaff 5km in Inishowen Dominic Bonar claiming 3rd, Rosemary Bogle and Gloria Donaghey winning their respective category’s
At the AAI games in athlete Jodie Stewart got her season of to a good start getting 3rd in both the Long Jump & Triple Jump. Patricia Boyle Cranford AC training partner of Jodie getting 2nd in Long Jump.
Looking ahead,the Inter Firms 5km road race will take place in Letterkenny on Wednesday 20th May check in at the Aura Leisure centre race starts at 7,30pm the Old Dunne’s Stores.
Finn Valley A.C., Stranorlar will host the Area Primary Schools Athletics Challenge on 20th/21st May 2009 at 10.30am sharp.
Events include 60m, 80m, 100m, 200m, 600m, High Jump, Long Jump, Relays, Shot put, Ball Throw for distance for competitors born 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, and 1996.
