Doyle grabs silver in National Seniors

Brian Doyle was up on the line battling for gold in the national 400m final late Sunday in Santry. His time 47.17 second fastest of the season his best ever placing at this top level nationally and he now must continue to chase what for him would be a real breakthrough at sub 46 secs. A medal also for Clive Heapes in the 35lbs over the bar junior event at 4-20m underlining the strength of the 17 year old. Teresa Mc Gloin battled bravely in the 5k but faded in the last 2k having pushed real hard early on.

Other News

This weekend it's the National League Final. Neil Martin and Mark Connolly in charge and we wish all well. In the schools in Bedford Pauric Mc Laughlin competing for Ireland returned 9-35.9 a big PB for 5th and just a stride off bronze. Now that all adds up to an exciting season for the Convoy lad.

Patsy Heading to Beijing

Its closing in on the 2008 Olympics in Beijing so its an opportunity to wish Patsy McGonagle well, as he leads 16 athletes to the Far East. He flys out August 1 and hopes to carry a regular blog on www.finnvalleyac.com from behind the scenes. This proved really interesting in 2007 from Osaka.
