Club and County records at National League Round 2

Santry stadium in Dublin was the venue for round two of the national league and saw Clive Heapes erase Bosco Reid's club and county hammer record of 34.56 metres, pushing the new mark to 37.74 metres with a series of three record throws.

In the women's equivalent Kathleen Merrit flew in from London to throw the hammer 24.15 metres, thus surpassing Bridie Lynch's 23.50 metres Finn Valley club record set at the national senior championship in 1991.

Both these athetes have the ability to throw further before the season is over. Well done to both.
