Busy week at Finn Valley AC
The Finn Valley complex will be particularly busy this week as Wednesday sees the
culmination of the primary schools athletics. We expect to have 1000 children
competing. Start time 11am.
It's been a real classy success story this particular event catering for
schools of all sizes. It began in the Sean Mc Cumhaill park some 38 years
ago and has been particularly well supported ever since.
Sunday is Ulster championship day. The start time is 10am to enable the
activities to be completed early in consideration of the Donegal v Derry
game later that day. In fact the Donegal senior team will make final
preparations at Valley later that day.
Thursday gave some indication of things with Donegal championships U10-13.
There was a good turnout and competitive races and no doubt many will
endeavour to win national medals later next month.
I was impressed by the standard of the Valley throwers John Kelly and
Michael Gallagher and that leads me on to welcome John Kelly on board as a
throws coach at the club. John was a multi age group champion at national
level some years ago.
Also welcome Barry Mc Donald as a middle distance coach; all this additional
help is really appreciated.
Finally Tullamore is the venue on Saturday for Irish Schools finals, always
a really exciting meeting.
