Silver at Special Olympics for Valley girl
Marian Gallagher returned to her home in Glenfin to a big welcome from
the local people in the parish hall.
She had collected a silver medal in the recent Special Olympics in
Shanghai in the walk event behind a South African. To add to the
occassion her father Mickey and mother Margaret travelled out to be
present.
Speakers at Monday's welcome home included parish priest Rev. Lorcan
Sharkey, Neil Martin, David Alcorn and Patsy Mc Gonagle. The family and
Marian gave thanks to all present and to those who had helped in the
preparation. It was a tremendous community occasion and the
acknowlengment of the local people was appreciated by the family.
Well done Marian!
