Osaka Diary Number 5.

Well it's midnight here in Osaka. It's been a busy time: a reception from the people of Matsue before we left yesterday; the journey into the concrete jungle that is Osaka a city of 3 million souls; sorting out accommodation; settling athletes in; doing final athlete declarations; getting competition gear pictured whic is a requirement; and beginning to take calls from Irish media.

It all adds up and there was a visit to track and warm up to get my bearings.

And now its time to sleep. Was delighted to hear from Kieran that training has begun; no point in waiting about, just get out there and get going. Weeks missed now will never be regained as the pressure to perform hits in. So its Tuesday/ Thursday and Sunday morning minimum dependent on where you want to go and how much you want to impact. Looking forward to getting back to that.

At times like this after a long day I think about all the people who contribute to Finn Valley and I'm very proud of that committment. A new challenge awaits in 2007-2008.

Had a long email from Gerry O Doherty who has been in the club since his days in Letterkenny I.T. many years ago and even though he has spent all the intervening years in England he has been with the Valley throughout. The team here is a young team; the spirit and energy from them has been class and it will tell us so much about them as we move forward to Beijing and many are young enough for London 2012.

Have a look at the team profiles and let me know what you think.

Better get to sleep. No doubt this team attache I have will ring me so early to ask me a stupid question. I now have BBC 24 on the TV so that's an improvement.

In a hotel in the middle of skyscrapers boy are we so lucky living in Donegal you better believe it.

Patsy Mc Gonagle from Osaka.
